Helping young people SWITCH their thinking about Education and Employment

Our SWITCH mentors work intensively with students in years 9-12 who are at risk of disengaging from school with the aim  to reengage them back into an effective learning environment or provide support with their transition into meaningful employment. The programme provides flexible and supportive learning environments for students who have a history of poor educational experiences.

The Youth Express SWITCH Mentors work oneonone and with small groups of students, who have been identified by the appropriate school representative and referred to the SWITCH Programme.  The Youth Express SWITCH Mentors work with students in the below areas that have been identified as key indicators to re-engagement and transition.

  • Developing individualised transition plans
  • Quality resume development
  • Work preparation skills
  • Exploring education and training pathways options
  • Raising awareness of trainee and apprenticeships
  • Linking young people to employment outcomes.

The SWITCH Mentoring Programme is available to schools in the Hunter region and is offered as a fee for service programme.

For more information about the programme and service fees please contact one of our SWITCH Mentors on (02) 4931 2777 or email admin@youthexpress.com.au.
